Janine Ippolito is a NY state Licensed Clinical Psychologist specialized in comprehensive psychological treatment and assessment for children and adults. She provides psychotherapy for children and adults ages 5 and up, and have experience working with individuals with anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, bi-polar disorder, sexual dysfunction, inattention issues (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders), anger and disruptive behavior disorders, grief and loss, marriage and couple counseling, chronic illness and aging (geriatric) issues. In addition, she has conducted numerous evaluations to assess learning disorders and developmental disabilities for children which include psycho-educational evaluations.

I have experience within a community mental health center where I treated children and adults with chronic mental health problems including bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder. I have conducted group therapy for the treatment of anxiety disorders, such as panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder, using a combination of cognitive behavioral and psycho-educational treatment methods. My approach to psychotherapy is primarily eclectic, drawing on cognitive behavioral, person-centered, family systems and object-relations theoretical orientations. Finally, I have experience conducting psychotherapy with older adults (ages 65-97) in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Within this setting, I emphasized supportive therapy and motivational interviewing techniques to assist older adults with their adjustment to chronic illness and long-term residential care.

I have conducted comprehensive psychological assessments including psycho-educational evaluations for pre-school and school-aged children within the context of elementary and middle schools where I had many opportunities to collaborate with teachers, guidance counselors, and other academic professionals. With adults I am specialized with psychological assessments for bariatric surgery from Haymount Institute.

I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia where I completed a specialized concentration in psychological assessment. I completed my internship and postdoctoral residency at the Haymount Institute for Psychological Services in Fayetteville,NC where I specialized in providing psychological testing and diagnostic assessments for children and adults from various socioeconomic backgrounds. I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family therapy from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Within this training environment, I learned to use an integrated approach to treating individuals, couples, and families within the context of their relationships. I have knowledge and experience working with women’s issues, having treated individuals within a Women’s Health Clinic and having completed a dissertation on specific factors contributing to women’s sexual and relationship satisfaction.
